In the final week of May, we headed to Warsaw to represent our team at a data science hackathon called Maraton Analizy Danych.
The organisers provided various public and proprietary datasets, and gave the teams 24 hours to rapidly prototype a solution to a problem of choice. We decided to work with data from the Society and policy thematic track. First, we thought about creating an exploratory analysis of education levels across Poznań high schools. However, we ended up building an R Shiny app that allows the user to learn more about the different districts of Poznań.
While we didn’t win the competition, it was a great learning experience. We had an opportunity to practise using APIs, as well as to improve our time management skills.
